check the best NRL betting predictions for today and tomorrow

The National Rugby League (NRL) represents the highest level of professional rugby league in Australia. The 16-team league is widely regarded as the world’s best rugby league competition and is contested by 15 elite teams from Australia and one from New Zealand. No rugby league championship attracts more TV viewers or is attending by more spectators than the NRL.
The competition is organised by the Australian Rugby League (ARL) and is sponsored by the Telstra Corporation. Its origins can be traced backed to a local club rugby competition that began in Sydney in 1908. The current incarnation of the league was established in 1997 after an agreement between the ARL and a rival Super League controlled by global media powerhouse, News Corporation.
The league runs from autumn through to spring when the championship is decided in the NRL Grand Final match. The final game is one of the biggest sporting events in Australia and can attract crowds of over 100,000 as well as a huge worldwide TV audience.
NRL team betting stats
A total of sixteen clubs compete for the NRL championship each year including the New Zealand Warriors who are the only team from outside Australia to play in the league. There is only one league in the system with no promotion or relegation to other divisions. In total, 23 rugby league teams have played in the NRL since the 1998 restructure. Some clubs have merged to form new clubs while others have since become defunct or shutdown for financial reasons. Of the original members, 11 have played in every season of the league.

The most successful club in the history of the event are the South Sydney Rabbitohs, who have amassed a total of 21 championship titles since their inception in 1908. They are one of eight teams in the league to hail from the metropolitan area of Sydney.
Top NRL player picks
NRL players are amongst the best paid and highest profile of all Australian sports stars. The league features a high percentage of Polynesian players and has historically included a significant number of aboriginal players. The most famous indigenous player was Arthur Henry Beetson who became the first aborigine to captain Australia in the 1970’s.
Former Brisbane Broncos player Darren Lockyer holds the records for most ever games played in the league with a total of 355. He also holds the appearance record for the Australian national team and Queensland State of Origin. The player currently hailed as the best in the league is Cameron Smith of Melbourne Storm. Other names worth watching out for are James Graham, Cooper Cronk, Greg Inglis and Johnathan Thurston. Another of the league’s hottest stars Jarryd Hayne recently moved to the USA to play in the NFL for the San Francisco 49ers.

  • No team has remained unbeaten in a season since St. George Dragons achieved the feat in 1959.
  • In 2001, Parramatta Eels broke the league record by scoring 943 points in a single season.
  • Only one player has ever scored more than 200 tries in one season. That accolade is held by Ken Irvine who managed a career total of 212 while playing for North Sydney and Manly-Warringah between 1958 and 1973.
